The Day That Turned Your Life Around

The day that finally turns our life around is an exciting time, but what day is that? This day often times does not come into our life until we seem to have reached our rope's end. How will we know when that day arrives?

There are five mile posts that must be passed before we reach the day that can turn our life around. They are:

1. Disgust
2. Decision
3. Desire
4. Action
5. Resolve

1. Disgust:

Each one of us has a breaking point, a point that fills our heart with disgust. Where that breaking point is only you will know, but NOT until you reach it. When you do, your heart will say, "I've had it. I am angry as hell and I'm not going to take it any more."

It may be a divorce, credit card debt, a loss of job, or mortgage foreclosure. Whatever it is in your life it will slap you in the face so hard, you hurt. That is the kind of emotion, the kind of disgust necessary to feel to turn your life around. For the alcoholic, it is often times a literal gutter, or jail bars. But for most people, that supreme life-changing moment of disgust comes when faced with financial ruin.

2. Decision:

It is in that time of disgust that life changing decisions are often made. Often times it comes in the eleventh hour, just before the stroke of midnight and gloom.

Life changing decisions are often made in agony. There is great hurt, disappointment and realization that life cannot go on like before. This decision will mean doing things we haven't done before, or are at first uncomfortable in doing.

You must KNOW what it is you want to change most in your life. Did you know most people spend more time planning their vacation time than they do their own future? They live their lives like ships without a rudder on an ocean filled with stormy seas. So when the sea rises in anger, they are ill-prepared. Their lives are one
catastrophe after another.

What is it you want to change most in your life?

3. Desire:

It is out of the frustration of disgust, that a desire will well up from deep within. This desire will be so strong it will become fixed in our heart, mind and soul. From now on everything we do will be done to drive us closer to fulfilling our desire. Many call it a goal, but it is desire that drives us to reach that goal. For without desire, goals are only dreams never to be fulfilled.

4. Action:

All out MASSIVE action is the only kind of action that can satisfy desire born out out of disgust. We will pull out all stops from whatever has kept us from achieving in the past. Driven by a life-changing desire, we will no longer accept meager effort. This is all out action. We will live by the motto that massive action yields massive results.

Action also means learning what we need to learn to get the job done. A day or week or year spent studying to learn something new is taking massive action.

Along the way, we will meet people more than willing to tell us that we are wasting our time. Forget them and move on. Let your actions be your testimony.

5: Resolve:

Resolve is a state of mind. It says, "I'll be there."  "I'll do it." This is the do or die time of our lives. So we have thrown out the word "try" from our vocabulary. From now on there is no try, only do. Resolve shows up, is never late and never makes excuses. Resolve makes commitments and keeps them.

These are the five mile posts most all of us pass before reaching the day that turns our life around. The answer to life's problems lies within us. So it is sad that most of us wait to pay the the School of Life to teach us these truths.
